Proudly appointed to sell the products of such globally renowned brands as Untel, B&D, Leistung Energie, WE Walters, and CAB, this start-up is building a reputation for its delivery of power equipment. With a drive for sustainable operations, it offers brandnew products, and also provides a series of like-new and refurbished items, solidifying it as an ecoconscious brand of choice for low-, medium-, and high-voltage needs. We speak with Co-Director Abby Crawford to find out more. From substations and transformers to switchgear and cable systems, Australian Power Equipment has built strong relationships with its supply chain, providing access to new and bespoke equipment to its clients. For clients whose needs are urgent, they are able to address these challenges swiftly and effectively by providing immediate solutions, leveraging a considerable amount of in-stock equipment and critical sourcing expertise. Regarding her team, Abby tells us, “a commitment to exceptional customer service underscores their dedication to helping businesses make optimal decisions for their operations”, with this being one of the fantastic qualities that Abby and fellow Co-Director Andrew Cockbain strive for throughout their operations. At the very heart of this customer-centric approach is an underlying emphasis placed on the forming of trustworthy relationships, a process that is proactively engaged across the board. As Abby explains, “This commitment translates into collaborative efforts with clients from the initial specification phase, through product development, to the final stages of delivery and commissioning.” What is clearly apparent through this process is an unashamed dedication to doing things quickly but correctly, ultimately reflecting the excellence that has become synonymous with this brand. More than just its exemplary customer service skills, Australian Power Equipment is toin possession of an overarching ethos comprised of three guiding pillars, beginning with the first; safety and resourcefulness. This revolves around innovative thinking to ensure that all client jobs are carried out in a manner that is not only safe, but also cost-effective and efficient regarding both time and resources. From such innovation stems the second pillar, the path to sustainability. Abby refers to this as, “an unwavering commitment” which, “runs through from the company directors, with a pledge to uphold sustainable principles both within the organisation and throughout supply chain[s].” Still very much linked to this drive towards sustainability is the third and final pillar; community contribution. Determined to give back to local communities through both sponsorships and donations alike, this passion extends not only to people, but also to the rehabilitation and protection of many of Australia’s most vulnerable native wildlife, protecting their habitats and ultimately bringing some species back from the brink of extinction. This is best showcased through the fiveyear financial support that the business has pledged to give to Aussie Ark, a leading breeder and rewilder of some of these most precious species, as well as the initial $20,000+ donation given to Taronga Zoo to aid against the illegal wildlife trade, a first project in what promises to be a long relationship Jan24109 between the zoo and Australian Power Equipment. This start-up demonstrates excellent sustainable commitments, its threefold sustainability policy encompasses social, environment, and governance, highlighting an approach to business that is both responsible and ethical. Regarding their people, Australian Power Equipment fully complies with all relevant legislations, is wholly supportive of diversity and inclusion, and acknowledges and seeks to learn from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ ways of caring for the land. Similar commitments are on seen regarding the environmental and economic sub-sections of the policy, with Australian Power Equipment seeking to comply with all environmental legislation on a local and regional level, adopting the famed “Avoid, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle” mantra, as well as striving to continue to streamline its own performance regarding environmental matters in addition to that of its supply chain. Net zero is aimed for, on top of a promise to always conduct business in a fair and equitable manner, with profitability and sustainable returns yielded as a result of this open and transparent approach. As problem solvers and experts in urgent and anticipated equipment alike, Australian Power Equipment is well-versed in navigating the nuances of the Australian market, turning challenges outside of its control to opportunities for development and to further expand its reach. Abby details one such example of this, “in some scenarios, clients face protracted delays in acquiring necessary equipment, owing to persistent disruptions in international shipping exacerbated by geopolitical conflicts.” She continues, “to address this dynamic challenge, we offer our critical sourcing and in-stock solutions, providing a solution for businesses grappling with urgent requirements. This means, we can usually provide either a temporary hire solution until new equipment arrives, or offer near-new equipment as part of a long term solution.” Both of these elements have proven to be instrumental in navigating industry terrain and going that extra mile for a diverse client base that possesses an array of unique needs. As an example of the business problem-solving in action, the team recently acquired transformers from a rehabilitated coal mining operation, and refurbished/ repurposed this equipment for use in a separate renewables project, providing the site with equipment of the highest calibre in the most cost effective and timely way, delighting the customer. This is a great example of the aforementioned critical sourcing solutions that have earned Australian Power Equipment such praise, benefiting clients while simultaneously aligning with sustainable practice.
