APAC Insider- Q4 2025 | 7 Jul25196 Always striving for excellence, the Jacob Group of Companies is an esteemed group of 37 concentric businesses which are all related to and within the automotive industry. In August 2023, the Jacob Group was inducted into the Hall of Fame through the Albury Wodonga Business Awards, a humbling award for the family, to be recognised by their business peers. The Jacob Group has such a rich history, Neville shared: “It all started with my great grandfather Herman (Harry) August Jacob who was born on May 18, 1899. Harry began working as a coachbuilder and blacksmith at Walla Walla in 1915 at 16 years of age. After 10 years he ventured out on his own and purchased a small office on Commercial Street Walla Walla. In 1934 Harry acquired the HV McKay Massey Harris machinery franchise, and in 1942 his son Lionel joined the business resulting in the formation of H A Jacob & Sons Pty Ltd. Later in 1967, I joined the company and worked with my father, Lionel”. “Harry passed away in 1972 and Lionel became the Managing Director of H A Jacob & Sons. It was in June 1975 that the company was appointed the Toyota franchise, and Jacob Toyota was born. So began decades of growth for the company with small local acquisitions at Henty and Corowa and eventually a large investment and building program in Albury-Wodonga.” Then, over the ensuring decades the company experienced periods of huge growth with Neville carrying on the legacy of the business. He continued: “The Jacob Group of Companies is a locally owned family operated business with our core strengths focused on family values along with employees being at the heart of the business. APAC Insider- Q4 2025 | 8 Specialising in transformational student engagement software, Cenote Solutions is the company behind Student Pulse, a comprehensive application that takes data from a client’s existing systems and uses it to boost conversion, reduce attrition, and improve student outcomes. At the helm of this operation is Mark Sampson, who became disillusioned with ‘big company’ approaches after spending more than 30 years working for them. We caught up with Mark to find out more about how he identified an underserved market and delivered a novel, results-driven solution. Having experienced first-hand the shortcomings of big organisations in areas such as innovation, leadership, and development, Mark Sampson knew there had to be a better way. Following a short period in interim executive roles, Mark discovered a niche that he not only felt passionate about, but which he believed had been glossed over by the big players in the field of technology training and education. Thanks to his global EdTech experience, Mark knew he could deliver a viable path for this initiative, in a reasonable timescale. Today, seven years removed, Mark and his team have developed Student Pulse, an application putting so-called market leaders to shame – all whilst building the foundations of Cenote Solutions, a sustainable and meaningful company. As Mark explained: “We focus on delivering genuine engagement and relationship management software to education and training providers, offering – at outstanding value for money – what the major CRM providers claim to, but to be honest, do pretty poorly and at massively high cost.” In short, what Cenote offers is more, faster, and better than industry giants such as Salesforce and Dynamics 365 – but with an infinitely improved return on investment. The simple, straight-talking approach that governs both this platform and the company behind it comes directly from Mark, who is tired of the endless debates about values and mission statements after spending decades embroiled within them. Thus, with Cenote and Student Pulse, Mark keeps it easy. Student Pulse is about empowering clients to deliver the best student experiences and help their staff maximise the support they deliver to students, whilst Cenote is a business that looks after its people with integrity and generosity. Exploring this further, the commitment the company has to affording the best outcomes for its clients can be seen through the time from initial conversions to the decision to implement Student Pulse being long – always months and often years. This is because Cenote aims to build trusted relationships in this sector, based on its dedication to deliver projects both on time and within budget, all without the overengineered project management. Mark told us: “The strategy is simple: build the best possible software to meet current and future market needs and deliver it to those who can move beyond transactional CRMs and into transformational engagement and relationship management technology.” Supporting Cenote in achieving this is its small size – which ensures alignment – and the genuine agility present across its design, development, and delivery. For example, system security and data privacy are two of the areas most heavily focused on by the team, and clients and prospects alike are both collaborated with to guarantee that this transformational student engagement software is brave, bold, and in tune with the bigger picture. Given that both the higher and vocational educational markets in Australia and New Zealand have faced some major challenges over the past few years, as well as the shifts in focus towards areas such as student wellbeing and campus safety, a platform like Student Pulse offers the results many institutions are after. However, the hard part is getting them to realise this and stop investing in the big-name systems that fail to deliver on innovation. Cenote’s innovative streak is something that Mark attributes to its people – a team of honest and hardworking individuals who understand what it is that the company is trying to build and why so much has been risked in making it a reality. Mark also makes a conscious effort to see that his team challenge him and push the boundaries, which they do. Ultimately, this all feeds into what is Mark’s ultimate aim with Cenote Solutions: to deliver a business that looks after its staff and clients alike, providing the latter with market-leading engagement management software that makes a real difference in the lives of staff and students working in this sector. Even though he is – by his own admission – ‘getting on a bit’ now, Mark remains committed to this aim at least for the next few years, before the search begins for a person or a company with the vision to take Student Pulse further. APAC Insider- Q4 2025 | 10 Blending an international reach with practical solutions, RosettaLegal is a boutique law firm based in Seoul, South Korea. Named after the Rosetta Stone, the discovery of which helped historians to deepen their understanding of Ancient Egypt, it is the firm’s aim to do the same for law – especially concerning cross-border disputes, insurance, and commercial litigation. With RosettaLegal being recognised with this award, we spoke with its own Jeong Min Lee for more on what sets it apart. In the same way that the Rosetta Stone has proven key in deciphering Ancient Egyptian hieroglyphics, RosettaLegal wants its legal services to be the key to its clients overcoming their issues and disputes, supporting them in creating tailored strategies and solutions that make sense for their businesses. Bearing the weight of this task is the small team behind the firm, whose combination of global experience and industry-specific insight allows them to guide clients through challenges and disputes with both precision and pragmatism. “We serve as trusted advisors and advocates for clients facing high-stakes, crossborder conflicts, whilst also providing support in contract drafting, negotiations, etc.”, explained Jeong Min Lee, who has been a senior associate at the firm since 2018. “Our clients range from insurance companies and reinsurers through to established corporations navigating complex, multi-jurisdictional legal challenges.” The diversity inherent in this client base is mirrored in the firm itself, which leverages legal knowledge from many practice areas. This broad, encompassing knowledge is then channelled into three primary specialisations to ensure the best outcomes for clients: dispute resolution, cross-border matters, and insurance. Beginning with dispute resolution, RosettaLegal aims to help its clients resolve their conflicts as quickly as possible, saving them money and headaches. Whether through its international arbitration and litigation services, its domestic litigation, or its mediation options, clients can feel confident knowing that RosettaLegal will find the best solution. Only recently, RosettaLegal has handled a number of domestic and international arbitration cases across the multifaceted industry landscape, with these spanning international trade, distributorship, insurance, telecommunication, construction, engineering, and shipbuilding. What is particularly impressive about all this is that this counsel has been provided under a number of different arbitration rules, including those set by boards and bodies including the KCAB, ICC, ICDR, SRIA, and UNCITRAL, to name just a few. Similarly, when it comes to a variety of cross-border legal matters, this boutique law firm for global clients instils trust as a result of its seamless legal and translation services, which cover everything from deciphering foreign-language documents to establishing companies. Young Seok Lee, who is the founding partner of the firm, is particularly revered in cross-border law, given he has served on the likes of the Hong Kong courts and the London Maritime Arbitrators Association within the last few years, honing his expertise. The third and final area of expertise for RosettaLegal, and the one we have chosen to recognise with this award, is insurance. The firm particularly excels in coverage and liability issues, especially when it comes to reinsurance, directors and officers liability insurance, construction all risk insurance, erection all risks insurance, and product liability insurance. The team have provided advisory and defence work to several landmark cases in this area, primarily concerning fires/explosions in local factories and warehouses. Across these services, the most rewarding aspect for the team is being able to help clients navigate their crises with poise and transparency. Be it analysing the facts, assessing cases, or resolving a dispute that could have impacted a business greatly, seeing the tangible impact this legal counsel has on people’s lives is always satisfying. Jeong Min added: “We are particularly proud of our track record in complex domestic and international disputes, where we have often been able to secure favourable outcomes against the odds.” Regardless of whether it is playing the underdog or the odds-on favourite, RosettaLegal’s ability to blend an international outlook with dispute resolution expertise and preventitive legal strategies makes it the go-to firm for international arbitration, litigation, and insurance services – every time. Its team being both long-term advisors and problem solvers has helped it build trustbased relationships with clients, something that has strengthened the crossborder work which remains a cornerstone of its service suite to this day. Ultimately, RosettaLegal’s proficiency and the positive impact it has across multiple areas of law makes it one of South Korea’s leading law firms. Its by-the-book nature makes its desired association with the Rosetta Stone valid, and it is certainly paving the way for continued legal excellence within national and international business environments alike. APAC Insider- Q4 2025 | 11 Legal and compliance frameworks are essential to the integrity and resilience of any institution, especially one as multifaceted as a global university. At Singapore’s Nanyang Technological University, the Legal and Secretarial Office plays a pivotal role in shaping governance, safeguarding operations, and supporting strategic growth across the University’s diverse ecosystem. Recognised for its dynamic approach and commitment to excellence, Nanyang Technological University’s Legal and Secretarial Office continues to set the standard for legal services in higher education. As it is honoured in the APAC Legal Awards 2025, we take a closer look at its outstanding operations. Nanyang Technological University (NTU) is a globally recognised academic and research institution based in Singapore. Ranked among Asia’s top universities, NTU is known for its strengths in engineering, science, and interdisciplinary innovation. With a campus that blends cutting-edge infrastructure and sustainability, the University continues to shape the future of education and research across the region. The University’s legal services are provided by its Legal and Secretarial Office (LSO), covering the University’s 19 colleges and schools, six autonomous institutes, 21 institutes and centres, 18 administrative departments, and 9 corporate subsidiaries – collectively referred to as the NTU Units. At its core, LSO aims to be the University’s Legal Architect, a dedicated dynamic team delivering legal and compliance solutions deeply rooted in the values of authenticity, accountability, and appreciation. LSO’s significant contributions to the University’s ecosystem include consolidating and centralising functions that previously sat elsewhere in the University, functions such as Corporate Governance and Secretarial, the Data Protection Office, and forming the Office of Ethics and Compliance to oversee disputes, whistleblowing, disciplinary matters, and personal data protection strategy; establishing a Legal Operations division to manage administration and lead legal technology initiatives; and relocating LSO staff – previously spread across three separate locations on NTU’s 200-hectare campus – into one consolidated office. The Office comprises a team of 19 lawyers and three nonlawyers, led by General Counsel and Chief Legal Officer, Mr. Gregory Chew. Gregory assumed the position in 2018, with the mandate to modernise and future proof the University’s Legal and Compliance Organisation. Together with the leaders of LSO, Gregory began to transform LSO’s vision, mission, and values. To date, LSO’s work has and continues to impact 33,000 students, 7,976 faculty and staff, campus tenants and service providers, and an innumerable number of external partners with whom NTU’s Units collaborate in order to embark on R&D initiatives, academic partnerships, and goods and services procurement endeavours. LSO’s work spans a wide spectrum of legal and compliance functions across the University. These include managing whistleblowing channels and investigations; participating in disciplinary proceedings; advising on disputes; leading NTU’s Data Protection Office and providing strategic direction to over 100 PDPA managers’ reviewing and developing non-academic policies such as the Volunteer Policy, Whistle Blower Protection Policy, Intellectual Property Policy and Data Governance Policy; delivering corporate and R&D corporate advisory; performing secretariat duties for the NTU Board of Trustees; and supporting governance and corporate secretarial needs for University leadership and In alignment with its vision of becoming NTU’s Legal Architect, LSO continually explores initiatives to innovate, improve, and simplify legal and compliance processes. APAC Insider- Q4 2025 | 14 Youth empowerment is reshaping the social and economic landscape across ASEAN, where leadership, education, and innovation are increasingly driven by young changemakers. With a growing presence across Southeast Asia, Add Courage is helping to accelerate this momentum through values-led programmes, strategic partnerships, and a deep commitment to community impact. Following its recent recognition in the South East Asia Business Awards 2025, we spoke to Lawrence Lee, Founder and CEO of Add Courage, to learn more about the organisation’s transformative work with youth across the region. Add Courage is a purpose-driven consultancy based in Singapore, dedicated to helping organisations build cultures of psychological safety, resilience, and authentic leadership. With a focus on human-centred transformation, the firm works across industries to support teams, leaders, and entire organisations in navigating change with clarity and confidence. Grounded in evidence-based practices and a deep understanding of workplace dynamics, Add Courage continues to shape the future of organisational wellbeing and leadership development across the region. Rooted in the belief that everyone deserves the opportunity to pursue their dreams, Add Courage’s purpose is to encourage and inspire individuals to realise their full potential. The organisation delivers this mission through four core service pillars. It provides corporate training by partnering with companies, educational institutions, and diverse organisations to design and deliver impactful programmes centred on leadership, purpose, values, courage, and motivation. Its HR consultancy helps organisations craft people strategies that energise teams and drive meaningful growth. In the area of education support, Add Courage champions educational advancement by supporting the establishment of new schools and nurturing existing institutions to expand access to transformative learning. At the heart of Add Courage’s mission is a two-fold purpose: to catalyse youth leadership and accelerate career readiness. This is delivered through its Empowering Youth Leadership Conferences, which equip young people with essential leadership skills grounded in “The Purpose Formula” – a transformative framework developed by Add Courage. Delivered through its book and Power of Purpose workshops, this approach helps youth discover their purpose, harness their strengths, and lead with clarity and impact. In partnership with values-driven enterprises, Add Courage also curates internship opportunities that offer hands-on experience, mentorship, and practical skills for success in today’s global economy. Its Empowering Youth Leadership Conferences adopt a country partnership model, working with trusted local collaborators across Cambodia, Laos, Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand, and beyond. All programmes are delivered at no cost to youth participants, ensuring equal access for those from underprivileged backgrounds. “We are genuinely passionate about encouraging and inspiring others to achieve their dreams, especially with the youth communities we serve and impact,” shared Lawrence. “We strive to make a positive difference by creating meaningful learning and employment opportunities. Through education and empowerment, we help strengthen communities and uplift lives.” Add Courage’s commitment to genuine care and ethical business practices has helped the organisation build lasting relationships with clients and partners across sectors. Trust and transparency remain central to its approach, underpinning both its internal culture and external engagements. This reputation, coupled with Singapore’s standing as a hub of professionalism, has supported Add Courage’s rapid expansion across ASEAN. With a presence already established in seven cities, the organisation aims to grow its footprint to at least ten by 2026. Youth leadership and education in ASEAN are undergoing a dynamic transformation, driven by economic growth, digital innovation, sustainability, and inclusivity. Young people are increasingly recognised not just as future leaders, but as active changemakers shaping policy and driving regional progress. Across the region, young people are championing purposeful leadership, inclusive education, equitable access to digital tools, and sustainable development through grassroots movements and regional platforms. “Education trends reflect this momentum and Add Courage provides support through our services, especially in empowerment programmes like the Empowered Youth Leadership Conference and Power of Purpose workshop,” Lawrence told us. “This explains the dynamic growth and support that we at Add Courage experience in ASEAN. For example, our Laosbased Empowering Youth Leadership Conferences are jointly organised with the National University of Laos, reflecting its relevance and importance.” Looking ahead, Add Courage is poised for an active and impactful close to the year, with three Empowering Youth Leadership Conferences and two Power of Purpose workshops scheduled across ASEAN. These programmes reflect the organisation’s unwavering commitment to delivering sustainable impact and expanding its reach within youth communities. As all initiatives are offered at no cost to participants, continued support from donors and partners remains essential to sustaining and scaling this work. Through collaboration and shared purpose, Add Courage will continue to uplift lives and strengthen communities across the region. APAC Insider- Q4 2025 | 15 Apr25161 Bringing useful, differentiated technology to both its solutions and the fields it operates in, MedCAT has positioned itself as a pioneer across AI and new technologies – especially when it comes to the insurance and healthcare industries. Tuyet Dang is the founder and CEO of the company, and the broad expertise he has as the result of a more than 20-year career in the corporate environment is at the heart of what sets the business apart. Below, we take a closer look at both MedCAT and its principal. Having held executive positions at organisations such as Sai Gon Securities Inc. – which is one of Vietnam’s leading financial institutions – prior to establishing MedCAT in late 2023, Tuyet Dang brings a wealth of experience with him to the table. Educated up to master’s level – Tuyet completed his MBA at the Vietnam National Economic University during his tenure at Sai Gon Securities – this CEO has a deep understanding of all levels of business, and it is from this knowledge that MedCAT has blossomed into something special. MedCAT’s mission is to serve as a companion to individuals looking to take better care of their health and businesses seeking more modern ways of operating. It achieves this by serving as a smart assistant, boasting cutting-edge technology and adding real value in its clients’ lives. This fuels the company’s mission: to be the top digital platform provider for unstructured data and leading AI products in healthcare and insurance in Vietnam. Behind this vision is a team of leading AI experts, PhD holders, and other senior figures who have been trained all over the world, leading major AI projects in countries such as the US. They, in turn, are supported by an equally impressive consultant team, made up of professionals boasting extensive strategic and management experience accrued over many years working for global companies. Combined, these teams make a collective united under the above mission and vision, positioning MedCAT as a premier solutions provider. Alongside this team – which benefits greatly from having Tuyet at the helm – further setting MedCAT apart is the fact that it owns the IDUS (which stands for Intelligent Document Understanding and Structuring) platform. Essentially, this proprietary platform utilises the combination of optical character recognition and AI to solve challenges with document digitisation both quickly and accurately. The goal here is to streamline the time this process takes without sacrificing on results, enhancing the customer experience as it goes. The benefits of MedCAT IDUS are plentiful, from its 99% accuracy and unlimited format processing to its easy integration – it seamlessly works with existing operating systems and optimises workflows immediately – and dedicated support service. On the back of this, and as an introduction to the platform on the company’s site eloquently puts it: “IDUS is not only a solution for extracting information from document images but also a valuable partner in the digital transformation process across various industries”, indicating its versatility. Similarly, MedCAT’s second area of focus is supporting insurance entities, which it does first by using IDUS to understand and structure document information, before cross-checking the data to help facilitate everything from automating claim processes and calculating customer reimbursement costs. Indepth advice concerning the reimbursement is then provided, with the system simultaneously generating reports and forecast trends from the data it collects, ensuring detailed management and product planning within the wider insurance outfit. Underpinning both of these solutions is MedCAT’s dynamic domain expertise, with its deep expertise in sectors such as finance, education, and logistics – alongside the mainstays of healthcare and insurance – enabling it to provide highly tailored and highly effective advice and solutions to both its clients and its partners. Perhaps the best example of this are its personalised healthcare solutions, achieved through processes including digitising medical records, managing prescriptions, and using AI to analyse and predict health journeys. As all of the above showcases, MedCAT demonstrates the highest resolve across its dynamic service suite, and whether it is streamlining document digitisation for all manner of businesses, providing solutions to support insurance firms as they facilitate claims processes and improve management, or providing solutions to individuals looking to better manage their health matters, the company is most certainly up there with the best in its class. Recognised as the Best AI-Driven Digital Transformation Solutions CEO 2025 – Vietnam, the work Tuyet Dang has done in solidifying MedCAT as a trailblazer across AI and new technologies – not only for business, but for life – has certainly earned him this award.
