GTT Expands Asia-Pacific Presence with New Services in Sydney

GTT Communications, Inc.  , the leading global cloud networking provider to multinational clients, announced today that it has increased its presence in the Asia-Pacific region with the expansion of its Point of Presence (PoP) in Sydney, Australia. Through this network deployment, GTT is now able to provide multinational enterprises doing business in Australia with a comprehensive suite of wide area networking EtherCloud® services, Internet services and managed services, to complement its existing voice offerings in the region.

The Sydney PoP extends the reach of GTT’s global, Tier 1 IP network, ranked in the top five worldwide. The site interconnects to multiple, diverse cable systems in the region to ensure network redundancy and high-performance connectivity, including the lowest latency route between Australia and the United States.

GTT’s Sydney expansion aligns with significant growth in Internet traffic in the Asia-Pacific region, particularly in the business sector. According to the Cisco® Visual Networking Index research report, Asia-Pacific will lead the world in business IP traffic by 2019, with 11.4 exabytes of traffic per month.

“This PoP expansion is a significant and strategic addition to the GTT network,” said Rick Calder, GTT president and CEO. “Our increased presence in Sydney provides our clients doing business in the region with improved connectivity and performance through our comprehensive suite of cloud networking services.”

GTT’s Sydney expansion marks the company’s fifth PoP in the Asia-Pacific region. This announcement follows the company’s recent announcement of new PoPs in the Middle East in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and in Doha, Qatar.
