Linode Opens Second Tokyo Datacenter
Cloud-hosting provider Linode has opened today a second datacenter in Tokyo, its third datacenter in Asia and ninth worldwide.
Linode designed “Tokyo 2” to meet the growing needs of customers in the Asia-Pacific region, complementing existing datacenters in Tokyo and Singapore. Features of Linode’s Tokyo 2 datacenter include:
- Robust connectivity using a blend of transit providers and settlement-free peers allowing for the highest possible bandwidth and lowest latency to destinations local and abroad, including excellent throughput to China.
- KVM hypervisor, giving clients access to all Linode plan sizes, including the 2G for $10 per month plan, as well as free upgrades.
- Doubled RAM, SSD servers and mass availability upgrade over Tokyo 1.
Demand for Linodes is extremely high in Tokyo. This second datacenter ensures the availability of Linodes to current and future customers for a very long time. Clients utilizing Tokyo 1 can open a support ticket to have their Linodes migrated to the new datacenter seamlessly and quickly.
Brett Kaplan, Linode’s datacenter operations manager, explained that his team took the time to research and select the best colocation facility, transit providers, hardware and software for this world-class datacenter. “It took a while,” said Kaplan, “but we came up with something that will exceed our customers’ expectations.”
“Tokyo 2 represents a significant investment in the needs of the developers, entrepreneurs and businesses who choose Linode as their cloud service provider,” said Linode CEO Christopher Aker. “We are continuously striving to provide the best possible uptime, bandwidth, processing power, security, affordability and customer service for our clients. Tokyo 2 will have it all.”
