About this award

APAC Insider is excited to announce that the South East Asia Business Awards are back for the sixth year. This prestigious awards programme is dedicated to recognising, promoting, and awarding exceptional companies within the region that have exhibited remarkable achievements over recent years.

The South East Asian region is a melting pot of cultures and identities, spanning almost 4000 miles and home to nearly 9% of the world’s population. South East Asia is home to a diverse range of social, economic, and cultural niches, which have given rise to a plethora of extraordinarily successful industries and international exports. Among these, Manufacturing has emerged as one of the foremost industries, with each country playing a crucial role in the Production trade. Similarly, Food and Agriculture are vital industries with robust worldwide trade connections, with countries like Vietnam leading the way. The entire region has strong trade links and recent international investments have only served to strengthen these thriving industries, which continue to grow at an impressive rate.

Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) are, without a doubt, the most important type of company in countries across South East Asia (SEA). They are significant contributors to the region’s GDP and the backbone of SEA economies. They account for nearly half of the region’s GDP, contribute significantly to overall employment levels, and play an important role in diversifying the workforce. Cambodia has already launched a strategic plan to support and strengthen the role of SMEs, and this recognition of their importance is being seen throughout the region.

In recent years, every country in SEA has experienced an overall improvement in their economy, and this trend is expected to continue. Experts predict that the GDP of these countries will grow even further, although each country is likely to experience varying levels of growth. Investments in SEA companies are also increasing rapidly, driven largely by the influx of technology-related firms. The region has become a hub for technological innovation, with SEA countries leading the way in AI and other similar technologies. This growth in the Technology Industry was inevitable, given the region’s extensive history of electronic manufacturing. The Technology Industry will play a pivotal role in the SEA’s economic progress, firmly establishing its position on the global map.

The Tourism Industry in the SEA region is undoubtedly a popular one. In 2023, the industry showed signs of recovery, thanks to the implementation of new tourism policies by many countries. The ASEAN Framework Agreement made it easier for tourists to travel within the region, and this emphasises just how crucial the tourism industry is to the GDP of SEA countries. Thailand and Malaysia are spearheading the industry, with Malaysia welcoming almost 26 million visitors in 2023. Vietnam, Indonesia, and Cambodia have also shown impressive tourism levels, and it’s evident that the industry is recovering remarkably well. It’s even possible that it will soon reach the pre-pandemic levels of international visitors.

The growth and variety of businesses in South East Asia over the last few decades have been impressive. APAC Insider is an excellent platform for leading companies and executives in this region to showcase their services to a specific audience of industry professionals. Regardless of your industry, the South East Asia Business Awards is the ideal place to highlight your accomplishments and present yourself to a global audience.

Frequently asked questions

How long has APAC Insider been in circulation for?

APAC Insider has been in circulation since 2015 and has been building up an impressive reputation for its excellent look into the sectors it covers. The publication aims to serve the vast Asia-Pacific region, which is home to more than one third of the world’s biggest businesses including the likes of Toyota, Sony and Bank of China. APAC Insider is published by AI Global Media, a UK based publishing group launched in 2010.

Where did my nomination come from?

A company or individual can be nominated in various ways, including self-nomination, nominated by a third-party, or nomination by our in-house research team. In the interest of maintaining high response rates, we do not ask nominees to reveal their identity. The main ethos of our awards system is that your ability to succeed is not linked to the number of votes received, with the most pertinent belief behind this being that all awards will be received on merit. As a means of identifying spam votes and countering cyber-threats, we monitor the website for unusual behaviour.

What happens if I agree to be considered further?

As we look to keep maximum focus on relevant candidates, we ask all nominees to accept their position on the shortlist. This gives individuals complete control in their decision on whether they would like to move forward with the award. There is no cost for you to be added onto the shortlist or if you go on to win. Nominees who accept will then proceed to our internal vetting procedure. Nominees are given an opportunity to present their own data which gets considered alongside the information collated by our research team. Please note it can take up to 8 weeks for research to be completed.

Who selects the winners?

We employ an impartial panel of individuals to conduct all the research to a high standard, and our research team are well versed in fact-checking and mediation. At the helm we have a veteran academic leader with international academic and training experience. Our continued use of this panel plays a key part in enforcing APAC Insider’s stance that winners are not determined by popularity, but by their contributions to the sector.

Is there a winner’s ceremony?

While we appreciate everyone will want to celebrate their success, this can look different to all winners. Many of the awards are also open across various regions within the Asian Pacific, and therefore many separate events would need to be arranged. Alongside this thought, we believe in keeping a cost-effective marketing philosophy, and do not wish to add further expense to any business or individual. Our press announcements are made digitally, online and across our network to enforce our position as digital publishers. We aim to provide you with the tools (both digital and physical) to generate real-world value.

If I do win, what happens next?

There is a short press embargo in place where we ask winners to refrain from any public announcements, giving us the chance to prepare the different means of coverage we offer. During this period the program manager will liaise with you to agree on the most appropriate coverage for you. Our main feature takes the form of a digital magazine, but we also offer physical trophies, wall mounted plaques, digital certificates, web-based advertisements, and press releases. The range of options are aimed to make the awards tailor-made to each individual firm, regardless of budget.

Are there any costs involved?

All awards are at no cost to be nominated or to win. We do offer a variety of paid additional benefits for our winners, and these are entirely optional and merely supplementary to your award rather than essential. To demonstrate our commitment to no mandatory fees, all winners are offered a free of charge promotional package. Our company policy will always remain: regardless of budget, our clients should always be able to garner the full value of the award.

I have another question that isn’t listed here.

If you have any questions or wish to discuss the award in more depth, please connect with a dedicated awards coordinator using the contact details provided. They will be able to assist further and guide you through the process.
