Martin is a highly skilled Business Development, Sourcing & Sustainability Consultant and Engineer, and joins Sinowei with 18 years’ experience of working within China.
Sinowei, the leading importer, buyer and distributor of Western FMCG brands and goods in China, has announced the appointment of Martin O’Donnell as APAC Director. Coming to Sinowei with 18 years’ experience working within China, the highly skilled Business Development, Sourcing & Sustainability Consultant and Engineer will be supporting Sinowei as it drives expansion, in a bid to support more British brands to access the Chinese markets – the second largest markets in the world.
Sinowei’s focus is not limited to exporting into China and Asia but also sourcing for products in the vast manufacturing base located in the region, especially in the sustainability and green economy. To support this, Martin will be mostly based in Sinowei’s Shanghai office, working with the team to proactively identify market needs, which can then be capitalised on, as well as liaising with the company’s London and Belfast offices.
Martin O’Donnell comments: ‘Joining Sinowei allows me to utilise my 18 years’ experience in diverse roles in China. As well as putting my Chinese language skills to good use, this role will enable me to build upon my commercial acumen, resilience, and resourcefulness. My previous experience in business development and project management to stakeholder relations will also stand me in good stead, helping Sinowei to better support Irish and European companies as they seek to find a beachhead in this thriving region.’
Sinowei CEO, Gerry O’Reilly, comments: ‘Everyone at Sinowei is delighted to have Martin join our team in Shanghai.
‘Martin has vast experience from his nearly two decades living in China, not to mention his fluency in Mandarin. As an experienced engineer and marketeer, Martin adds a Western dynamic to our Shanghai team, and we’re looking forward to seeing what his knowledge and experience can bring to the business as we move to expand Sinowei’s offering.’
